John Campbell Peacey was the son of Annie and John Peacey who were early settlers in the area that is now downtown Campbell River. John is considered the first non-native child to be born in Campbell River. John was a much decorated World War I hero. A few years after he returned from overseas he died of injuries sustained when hurling an enemy bomb from the trenches.
