George Quocksister

George Quocksister, son of Chief John Quocksister and his wife Susan (née Assu). Written records document the Quocksister family’s presence in the Campbell River area back to the 1830’s. George is one of the last speakers of the Le’kwala language. Born in 1930, his career as a commercial fisherman spans more than 6 decades. George married Elizabeth (Glendale) in 1946. The couple had 10 children.
